A walk and art event based in North London - part of London Festival of Architecture 2022

About this event

Join us for this guided walk, as we visit the ruins of two large workhouses near Archway in north London. Acting as memorials of Victorian times when enforced labour of impoverished people was regarded as an act of charity, we will investigate these sites and uncover narratives of their past lives. Catherine will be your guide as we unearth the foundations of these buried and derelict buildings and discover how they interact with the London of today.

This walk is connected with Catherine's collaboration in an art project called REFUGIA, which is being hosted by Five Years Gallery, London N19. See http://www.fiveyears.org.uk/archive2/pages/293/Refugia/293.html

For information on the guide, Catherine Harrington, and her art background see:http://catherineharrington.org , and for her architectural background see https://www.architype.co.uk/team/catherine-harrington/.

Please meet us outside the entrance of Caxton House Community Centre 5 minutes before.
