Event description

Description

What could the mighty Roman Empire and Gowanus, Brooklyn possibly have in common? With a 2,100-degree furnace burning 1,300 pounds of molten glass, one facility in Brooklyn is bringing the heat like no other in NYC, and is ready to show you what the ancient art of glassblowing (and modern art of neon-making) are all about.

Join New York Adventure Club for an exclusive look inside Brooklyn Glass, a 4,000-foot glassworking studio in Gowanus, Brooklyn that pumps out some of the finest glass blowing, neon art, and lampworking in New York City.

Led by one of the studio managers, our unique experience of Brooklyn Glass will include:

  • A discussion around the ancient form of glass blowing, and how little it has changed in the modern era

  • A trip to a glassblowing workshop for a start-to-finish demonstration on how to manipulate glass at 2,100-degrees Fahrenheit

  • A look inside the neon art studio to learn about the fundamentals of neon, and get a close-up look at how to bend, design, and create electrified and gas-filled tubes

As a bonus, all guests will receive a limited-time 10% discount on all Brooklyn Glass classes and workshops!
