Chicago's premier absinthe bar, The Savoy, is hosting their monthly absinthe class taught by absinthe expert Deidre Darling. The next class "Red, White, and Green" will get your patriotism moving as we explore American Absinthe and the distillers who make it. You will also enjoy light appetizers from Executive Chef Brian Greene.
The Savoy's bar manager, Deidre Darling, has cultivated one of the largest selections of absinthe in a beverage program in the country. Deidre is excited to teach about the history, share the ceremony of the spirit, and dispel all the myths of the "green fairy".
In the first class, "Intro to Absinthe", Deidre Darling engaged attendees with the captivating history of the most misunderstood spirit. She went through the basic properties of absinthe & the ceremony of serving it. Deidre enlightened us on how absinthe is made and how it varies from country to country. Of course, attendees indulged in absinthe, four different samples. And no, we did not see the green fairy after drinking it!
