In 2010, Architectural Photographer, John Bartelstone published The Brooklyn Navy Yard, capturing a “dreamscape” of a collection of his black and white photographs from the prior sixteen years. Five years later, the industrial landscape that so captured his imagination continues to fascinate photographers and architectural enthusiasts. On this talk and tour, Bartelstone will present select images from his monograph and then lead attendees to these same perspectives in the Yard today. Participants will be invited to take photographs and reflect on the dramatic transformation of the Yard that continues to develop and thrive as a vital urban industrial park.
Must be 18 or older. Participants are advised that they will be entering an active industrial park and are encouraged to wear sensible shoes and bring umbrellas in case of inclimate weather.
Signed copies of The Brooklyn Navy Yard, by John Bartelstone and published by powerHouse Books, will be available for purchase at the event. Participants receive 10% off.
