Please join Mississippi Public Broadcasting as it returns to hosting the Summer Learning Family Fun Day event in person at the Jackson Convention Complex. MPB is excited to have you join us for this annual summer event to be held Saturday, June 18, 2022, 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. The theme this year is: Explore! Discover! Grow! It is time to Explore! new opportunities, Discover! unique possibilities, and Grow! beyond your imagination.

Research shows that children lose about two months’ worth of reading and math skills over the summer if they do not practice what they learned during the school year. The summer learning gap can drastically affect a student’s educational advancement. This is MPB’s seventh summer hosting this community engagement effort where the goal is to remind the community about the importance of school readiness and continuous summer learning in a fun way.

The Summer Learning Family Fun Day event is designed to encourage families to keep reading and learning top of mind all summer long. It brings together fun and learning activities for Mississippi students and their families. Come enjoy storytime, hands-on literacy and math exercises, games, face painting, live shows, giveaways, MPB and local character photo opportunities, arts and education activities, and much more. Each child will receive a free book and parents will walk away with diverse resources offered by child/family-friendly vendors.

This is a statewide event that is free to the public.
