Description

Pain in your hands, wrists, or elbows? You are invited to attend a free seminar presented by two local providers specializing in the treatment of hand and upper extremity.

With 27 bones, 29 joints and at least 123 named ligaments in your hands alone, there is a lot to know regarding the function and health of your upper extremities. Whether you are currently experiencing pain and discomfort in your hands, wrists, or elbows, or you would like to prevent common conditions from happening in the future, this seminar will provide you with helpful information and answers. This free seminar will be presented by two expert providers; Dr. David Holt, orthopedic surgeon at The Center, and Amy Houchens, physical therapist at Southside Physical Therapy.

About the speakers:

Dr. David Holt specializes in the treatment of hand and upper extremity pathology including pediatrics, adolescents, and adults of all ages. Treating a wide range of upper extremity conditions such as sports injuries, acute trauma, arthritis, and nerve compression, he aims to provide the most up to date, evidence-based treatment for each individual patient. As a physician, Dr. Holt strives to provide care that is tailored to each patient’s goals and believes in shared decision making with patients. He will discuss your specific condition and potential treatment options in order to help you make the best decision possible. Dr. Holt also aims to provide care in a cost-conscious approach, including performing some surgical procedures under local anesthesia in an office-based setting.

Amy Houchens has been a practicing Physical Therapist since 1996. After gaining a wide range of experience in the orthopedic setting, she began to specialize in the treatment of the hand and upper extremity and earned her Certification in Hand Therapy (CHT). She also holds a Certification in Orthopedic Manual Therapy (COMT) and is an instructor for the International Academy of Orthopedic Medicine. Amy enjoys getting to know each of her patients individually and learn about their lives and interests. She aims to be realistic and informative while educating her patients on how they can achieve success in their training and recovery. She focuses on maximizing function based on each person’s unique situation and recognizing the necessity of close communication with referring providers to optimize care for her patients.
