Event Details

The success of classrooms—and students—starts with a great educator. But since not all educators are equally effective, is there a way to ensure that more students have access to the best in the field? Especially our most disadvantaged students? As the U.S. Department of Education prepares to mandate a more “equitable distribution” of teachers (as excellent educators are encouraged or forced to go from one school to another), what is the best path forward?

Analyst Michael Hansen of the American Institutes for Research will present his findings from Right-Sizing the Classroom: Making the Most of Great Teachers, which examines giving excellent teachers more students—and rewarding them appropriately. Join the Fordham and AIR teams for a debate on the merits of such a policy and on other ways to increase student access to high-quality teachers.
