EXODUS: RECREATION
A New Play with Music, Created by Memphis
Over the past 9 months, artists from the In[HEIR]itance Project, a national arts nonprofit, have led over 50 playmaking sessions with nearly 800 Memphians to co-create this original piece of theater.
In an epic game of freeze tag that takes place across the neighborhoods of Memphis, a trio of children get lost in a game where the rules of time do not apply, and are confronted with the truths of a city that roll by like the mighty Mississippi. Starring an incredible group of local actors and musicians, the performance will explore Memphis through the lenses of power, justice, hope, and a child’s schoolyard game.
Friday March 31 | 7pm at Limit Breaker Church, 6720 E Raines Rd
Saturday April 1 | 7pm at Limit Breaker Church, 6720 E Raines Rd
Monday April 3 | 7pm at the Halloran Centre at the Orpheum Theatre , 225 S Main St
Each performance will be followed by a talkback with the creative team and collaborators to continue the conversations inspired by the play. Tickets are pay-what-you-can and 100% of box office proceeds go to Memphis artists and arts organizations to continue the interfaith, intergenerational, and intersectional conversations activated through this process.
