Event description

Description

One hundred years ago, in 1917, the United States entered into the First World War. Called "The Great War" at the time, people thought it was the war to end all wars. New technologies and innovations completely changed the face of warfare and ushered in a new era of culture and thinking.

Learn about the daily life of Washington County citizens at home and abroad during the years of World War I. See how people on the home front contributed to the war effort, and get a chance to "plant" your own Victory Garden. Discover the stories of the men and women who served as soldiers, doctors and nurses overseas through their uniforms, letters and photographs. And see how the massive Spanish Influenza outbreak of 1918 struck the people of Washington County.

Discover for yourself the stories and sagas of Washington County in the Great War, running May 6th - June 30th, 2017!
