Manzanar: The Wartime Photographs of Ansel Adams features fifty photographs by Ansel Adams of the Japanese American internment camp in Manzanar, California, during World War II. These photographs were the subject of his controversial book Born Free and Equal, published in 1944 while the war was still on, protesting the treatment of Japanese in the United States.
The exhibit runs through August 14, 2018.
This exhibition was organized by Photographic Traveling Exhibitions, Los Angeles, CA.
Densho’s mission is to preserve the testimonies of Japanese Americans who were unjustly incarcerated during World War II before their memories are extinguished. These irreplaceable firsthand accounts, coupled with historical images and teacher resources, promote the principles of democracy and promote equal justice for all.
