Description

Exercise: how much is enough?

We're always being told to do more exercise. Some say that 30 minutes of moderate exercise a day is all that is needed for a healthier and longer life. However, others argue ‘no pain, no gain’ and that you need up to 50 minutes of vigorous exercise a day, to reduce your risk of an early death. So what are the facts? How much exercise is enough?

In this session you will learn from a highly respected and qualified exercise expert if there is an optimal amount of exercise for improvements in health and life expectancy and what type of exercise produces the best results.

Professor Jeff Coombes - University of Queensland

Jeff Coombes directs the clinical exercise physiology research group at the University of Queensland. His research interests include determining the optimal exercise for improving health and approaches to keep people exercising. He is a passionate advocate on the importance of fitness for health and is Chair of the Exercise is Medicine Australia initiative.
