Description

There are multiple Executive Roundtables held during 2017 NSBE Annual Convention. Below is the listing of each event and their dates/times. Please not that each time is a different presentation.

Executive Roundtable: Career Advancement - Advancing Your Career with Social Networking

Date: March 29, 2017 9:30AM - 11:00AM

Social Networking can be an integral part of your job search or career building – if it is used correctly. If you do not use it correctly, information that you may think is harmless like a photo used on Facebook or a comment on Twitter could cost you a potential or current job and damage your career. This roundtable is to help you learn how to use social networking to advance your career and professional relationships as well as things you should not do when it comes to social media and your career.

Executive Roundtable: Global & Community Impact - Collective Impact - Making 10K by 2025 A Reality
Date: March 30, 2017 1:00PM - 2:30PM

The percentage of black graduates among engineering degree candidates has been declining in the United States for more than a decade and was only 3.5 percent in 2014 — well below the 13.2 percent that represents parity for African Americans. As part of its new 10-year Strategic Plan, NSBE has set a primary goal of increasing the annual number of African-American engineering bachelor’s degree recipients from 3,620 to 10,000 by 2025.

Executive Roundtable: Technology & Innovation - Artificial Intelligence: Can It Go Too Far?
Date: March 30, 2017 2:45PM - 4:15PM

There is a lot of excitement that surrounds artificial intelligence. Artificial Intelligence is used in various fields including healthcare, education, manufacturing, transportation, and many more. AI’s influence on the world is growing despite it not yet being equal to the adaptable intelligence that human’s exhibit. As exciting as this may seem, one has to wonder at what point will AI be on the same level as human intelligence?

Executive Roundtable: Women in Leadership - Paths to the C-Suite: Insights from the Top
Date: March 31, 2017 1:30PM - 3:00PM

With more women entering into the workforce, there needs to be more done as it pertains to the advancement of women to senior leadership positions. The number of women in leadership roles is growing but is still lagging based on the number of women that now hold higher education degrees. Though women are making advances, why is it still hard to find them in corporate boardrooms and in the C-Suite? This roundtable is set to discuss the barriers that are preventing women from obtaining leadership positions, what the panelist have done in order to get to the top, as well as valuable advice that can be given in order for participants to set their sights on breaking into the C-Suite.

Executive Roundtable: Diversity & Inclusion - Navigating A Multi-Generational Workforce
Date: March 31, 2017 3:15PM - 4:45PM

The workplace is undergoing a significant transition with competition for talent on the rise and integrating work teams with a range of ages. With more Baby Boomers working past retirement age and Millennials continuing to matriculate college and enter the workforce, the differences in communication, values, attitudes, expectations, needs, and work habits can make it more challenging to manage and integrate into a corporate culture. This roundtable is to foster a discussion on how multigenerational workforces can be effectively managed, motivated, and rewarding.
