Event description

Description

“The child may not remember, but the body remembers.”

Hi HHSA staff,

HHSA, Public Health is hosting several screenings of Resilience, The Biology of Stress and the Science of Hope followed by a discussion to support awareness and understanding of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and what we as an agency can do to break the cycle.

The documentary Resilience reveals the science behind how abuse and neglect during childhood can cause toxic stress. Toxic stress negatively affects the brains and bodies of children, increasing their likelihood of chronic disease, cancer, mental health issues, drug addiction, homelessness, incarceration, decreased work productivity, and even early death.

However, there is hope. Resilience inspires those in pediatrics, education, and public service to join the movement towards healing and to promote the mindset that anyone and everyone can be a part of this generational change.

Join the movement! Help build resilience and promote hope in Shasta County.
