About this event

Report Launch "Excluded on the Frontline; Discrimination, Racism & Islamophobia in the NHS"

Join us as at the launch of the report "Excluded on the Frontline: Discrimination, Racism & Islamophobia in the NHS" conducted jointly by the Muslim Doctors Association & The Grey Area and supported by a number of ethnic minority health and care professionals.

We love our NHS and the people working for it. The past many months have seen the NHS at the forefront of the fight against Coronavirus. However, this very pandemic has also brought to light discrimination and bias faced by NHS professionals belonging to racially diverse groups and faiths.

Every institution has its' shortcomings and it is only by creating awareness and actively working to address them that will we be able to overcome institutional bias and give a fair chance to all those who have put their lives at stake to protect us and our families.

It is only fair that those who have tirelessly worked day and night to prioritise our safety needs should at least get in return a work environment which prioritises their psychological safety, makes them feel included and offers them a sense of belonging and equity.

Hear from the authors about the findings and recommendations of the report and join in the discussion on:

- the prevalence of discrimination, racism and Islamophobia among healthcare professionals in the NHS

- experiences and impact of discriminatory, racist and Islamophobic behaviours

- recommendations for NHS employers and regulatory bodies
