Excellus Blue Cross Blue Shield is proud to offer another training in our Behavioral Health Clinical Best Practices Training Series. This seminar will provide a full day training in the skills and principles of Motivational Interviewing. This seminar is appropriate for behavioral health providers in mental health and substance use disorder treatment programs. The training is also appropriate for primary care physicians, nurse practioners, physician assistants, and other medical professionals providing care to high risk individuals and families.
Everyone experiences ambivalence to change throughout their lives. However, it’s our members who may struggle with diabetes, mental health or substance use, who need guidance, collaboration and support to help them identify their readiness, willingness, and ability to change. This 8-hour session includes in-depth discussion, exploration and practical activities on general principles and skills used in Motivational Interviewing. Including: the spirit of Motivational Interviewing (MI); the core interviewing skills of OARS: Open questions, Affirming, Reflecting and Summarizing; the flow of MI: engaging, focusing, evoking, and planning; and the concepts of sustain talk and change talk.
We are pleased to offer trainings designed to enhance evidence-based practices and clinical competence for new and seasoned professionals. Our Introduction to Clinical Best Practices training modules provide support to behavioral and physical health providers offering coordinated Medicaid managed care services. The modules address best practices supported through the integrated care model of person-centered treatment planning.
