Description
Before purchasing, please ensure you have enrolled your student(s) at lacbpe.org.
The Excell Program is an ongoing effort, at CSUDH since 1989, by volunteer Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) professionals to stimulate more interest and enhance performance in technical subjects by students in the Black Community. Parent are asked to participate. The program provides tutoring/mentoring classes in Math and the Sciences for students in Grades 2 through 12. Hands-on Science Projects and classes in Computer Applications and Scholastic Aptitude Test Preparation are included for students at appropriate levels.
Classes are conducted on Saturdays using classrooms and facilities provided by the University. Parking Lot 7 is the nearest lot to the rooms assigned for the Excell Program. The charge for parking is currently $8 per day.
The Session starts on February 9th, 2019 and is scheduled to end on May 4th, 2019. Most Saturdays, students will attend two, 1-1/2 hour classes between 9 AM and Noon. A field trip will be arranged for one Saturday during this session.
Although the program is a non-profit venture, there is a nominal fee to cover expenses. Expenses include costs for workbooks, materials, field trip arrangements, and occasional awards. Fees are $85 for the first student and $65 for each of his/her siblings. Fees associated with online payments are non-refundable. Discounts may be arranged, as needed, for those with documented inabilities to handle the nominal fees. Fees are due on the students’ first day in the program each session. Checks shall be payable to “LACBPE” and cash will also be accepted.
