Event description

Description

Carol Bangura presents this DBHIDS Lunch and Learn Series. Our goal is to engage in discussions on pre and post migratory stressors and cultural beliefs that may contribute to mental health disorders and influence health seeking behaviors. We will also consider the role of faith and spirituality in immigrant and refugee communities as it relates to SAMSHA's Eight Dimensions of Wellness.

The workshop objectives are:

  1. Discover the importance of nontraditional methods of healing in immigrant and refugee communities.
  2. Learn how research supports nontraditional therapies as a valuable form of healiing
  3. Discuss how pre and post migratory stressors and cultural beliefs may contribute to behavioral health challenges.
