Dear Friends -

I am thrilled to be back in Toronto this October to see everyone and share music together again!

The big news in my life this year is after 23 years of performing on the viola I owned since my conservatory days, I found an exquisite, rare viola, the ex-Emanuel Vardi viola c. 1725. I consider myself blessed to have such a beautiful instrument as my new musical voice.

With thanks to two generous donors, I have had the privilege to present fundraising concerts in both New York City and Toronto in order to make the financing of this very special fine instrument possible. The first fundraising performance, in May, was held at Lincoln Center's Rose Studio,
home to the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. We celebrated with a magical evening of music with guests from as far as Mexico and Toronto!

I hope you will join me for my second fundraising performance on Thursday October 3rd at 7:00 p.m., at Heliconian Hall in downtown Toronto.

The total fundraising goal is $30,000 USD. With deep gratitude, I have raised $18,000 USD to date. Ticket sales for the October performance contribute directly towards reaching the fundraising goal.

For those wishing and able to make a larger donation, I will be announcing donor level opportunities of $250 - $5000 CAD which will include ticket packages and other gift items. Feel free to contact me directly for more information at cbgimbel@gmail.com.

I look forward to seeing you and sharing this special evening together.

Warmly, Carol

About the ex-Emanuel Vardi Viola c. 1725:
Owned by violist Emanuel Vardi, one of the great violists of the 20th century, the ex-Emanuel Vardi viola was masterfully restored in 2017 by luthier Martin Nitsche in New York City. Built on a Steiner model, the exact maker is unknown and the instrument’s mystique lies in its shrouded history.

About the performers:
Carol Gimbel, viola & Cullan Bryant, piano have been collaborating since 2014. Their most recent appearances include Lincoln Center's Rose Rehearsal Studio (NYC), Piccolo Spoleto Festival (SC) and Music Matters at La Grua (CT).

Gimbel is known for her bewitching, “goose-bump-worthy” performances. At the heart of her music-making is a focus on storytelling and community building with the goal of helping audiences connect to the world and themselves in new ways.

Bryant is one of the most active accompanists in New York City with over 70 recitals per year. In 2002 he was pianist with violinist and UN Messegner of Peace, Midori, for her 20th Anniversary tour of Japan.
