Event description

Description

Description

This program reviews evidence-based steps that occur in normal pediatric development. It then takes those steps and relates them to how orthotic interventions can impact development in pediatric populations that are already medically challenged with respect to development. Solutions are offered that provide orthotic support while facilitating more normal developmental processes.

Dinner will be provided.

Objectives

Upon completion of this course, the attendee will be able to:

  • Describe orthotic environments designed to facilitate developmental processes

  • Describe the difference between spasticity and posture-induced muscle hyperactivity

  • Select proper orthotic interventions to minimize postural deficits while allowing for development

  • Select between different techniques to manage various classifications of joint contractures
