Event description

Description

The Houston Forensic Science Center is hosting its 3rd annual symposium. This year’s topic will be “Evidence Handling and Risk Management” on Friday September 22 from 8 a.m. to noon. The event, in honor of National Forensic Science Week, includes a diverse panel of attorneys, legislators, advocates and experts to discuss one of the most sensitive aspects of forensic science: the proper handling of evidence and the risks associated with
mistakes. The panel will delve into how we can improve the process to minimize the risk, including new technologies that are available and legislation designed to make evidence handling safer and more transparent. The day will begin with keynote speaker, Inger Chandler, a former prosecutor at the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, who will share experiences about the consequences of improper evidence handling.
