Description

Evidence-based Performance Management Workshop

Presented by ANU's Research School of Management (RSM)

Date: Thursday 1st June, 2017

Venue: ANU Commons, 3 Rimmer Street, Canberra ACT 2601

Time: 9.00am - 12.30pm

Workshop Overview:

Most performance management models and new ‘cutting edge’ solutions often fail to deliver on what they promise. This leaves organisations with a profound challenge: how can we stay away from fads and quick fixes and instead use valid and reliable evidence to improve performance? In response to this problem the idea of evidence-based performance management has evolved, with the goal of improving employees’ performance by using critically evaluated evidence from multiple sources, such as organisational data, professional expertise, and the scientific research literature.

In this workshop participants will develop their evidence-based skills and enhance their understanding of how an evidence-based approach can be used to support organizational decision-making. Additionally they will learn about important findings from a Rapid Evidence Assessment conducted by the Center of Evidence-based Management and CIPD in the UK about what is known from the scientific literature about drivers of effective performance management practice.

Recommended Audience:

The workshop is directly relevant to any manager, director or business leader who would like to improve the quality and outcome of his/her decision-making and gain evidence-based insights into topics relevant to performance management such as performance appraisal, performance feedback, KPI’s, goal setting, and the drivers of knowledge work performance.
