Join the official Evidence Based Birth® Childbirth Class in Cleveland, OH

Are you looking for a childbirth class in the Cleveland area, that gives you the flexibility of online learning, but also the support of in-person connections?

When you take the Evidence Based Birth® Childbirth Class, you will:

  • Be mentored by me, Alayna Spratley, owner of Cleveland Natural Birth, and your very own Evidence Based Birth® Instructor.
  • Learn all about evidence based care, labor comfort measures, and advocacy skills.
  • Get prepared, get answers, get empowered!

When taking the Evidence Based Birth® Childbirth Class, you and your partner will learn the evidence for your birth options in an online class format, AND meet in-person with you local instructor, Alayna, and other parents throughout northeast Ohio, who are on this journey through pregnancy and birth, just like you!

It's so important to remember that there is no one right way or place to have a baby. Your instructor, Alayna, strives to help you discover the options that feel best for your family. This may mean planning a medicated hospital birth, a planned cesarean birth, a waterbirth at home, a doula-supported unmedicated birth or anywhere in between.

This hybrid class format (in-person and online) provides the convenience of home access to quality Evidence Based Birth® materials and online content. We are acutely aware that modern families are busy and online learning is a fantastic option and even better with the added benefit of local in-person mentorship.

You’ll have access to your Instructor during TWO in-person classes and during FOUR weekly Zoom sessions (video chat). Here is the schedule:

  • First in-person class is Sunday, April 14, 2019, 2:30-4:30pm.
  • 4 one-hour Weekly Zoom calls on Sunday, April 21, 28, May 5+ 122019 from 7-8pm
  • Second in-person class is our Comfort Measures Practice on Sunday, May 19, 2019, 2:30-4:30pm.
  • The in-person sessions are hosted at The Womb Wellness Center in Solon.
  • There is also a final “birth story” reunion class included – get a chance to debrief after your birth in a safe space (this is really important!) We will figure out a date and time together once everyone has had their babies!

What is included in this Childbirth Class?

Registration includes the TWO in-person classes, FOUR weekly Zoom video chats with your instructor, access to weekly online lessons and assignments, taught by Dr. Rebecca Dekker, PhD, on the Evidence Based Birth® Parents Portal, and a PDF and video library LOADED with the most up to date evidence on topics like Eating and Drinking During Labor, Vitamin K, Due Dates, and more. As a bonus, you will also get to celebrate and share your birth story at our reunion gathering.

One ticket is good for both the pregnant parent and their chosen support person. Your doula or secondary support person is welcome to attend our Comfort Measures in-person class, as well.

Common Questions Families Have:

Is this class only for people interested in Natural Birth?

Evidence Based Birth® believes that every person has their own unique path. Instead of focusing on medicated vs. unmedicated birth, which is so binary, we focus on giving you tools and helping you learn the evidence, so that you can decide what feels right for your family.

Shouldn’t I just let the doctors and nurses tell me what to do?

That is certainly an option, but routine practices in some hospitals are still about 15 to 20 years behind the research, and often there is a lot of pressure to conform to traditions that might not be in your best interests. We will teach you and your partner how to be your own advocate, and how to find the best support team for your family—a skill you will use for the rest of your life!

Inclusion Policy:

Evidence Based Birth® is committed to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for pregnant persons of any age, religion, race, sexual identity, gender identity, or relationship status.

Refund Policy:

Your payment reserves a spot in the class and is non-refundable, but tickets are transferable with adequate notice and approval.

If you wish to pay via an invoice (no Eventbrite fees!) please contact us at hello@naturalbirth.us
