Eviction Crisis: Mediator Training – Minneapolis, September. 25, 2018

How are the dynamics of families facing eviction unique? What services and resources are available and useful? How can mediation help stabilize housing?

This event will be hosted by Dawn Zugay, Conflict Resolution Center’s Housing Program Manager, who will be joined by Jeff Alli, Housing Program Manager from Mid Minnesota Legal Aid, and Rose McCollough, Housing Program Case Manager from NorthPoint Health and Wellness. Mediation services, Legal Aid and NorthPoint are key partners in a three way collaboration providing legal advice, wrap around services and mediation on a “just in time” bases for tenants who are at imminent risk of receiving an eviction filing.

Presentation will include:

  • Housing Law basics for Mediators,
  • Housing assistance programs basics, including a discussion of how decisions are made when providing financial assistance to families facing eviction,
  • Information on the wrap around services provided by Northpoint and others,
  • Understanding the context for how mediation, legal services and wrap around service intersects to help families at risk.
