About this Event

Join us to find out about the world of US college athletics, what it means to be a student athlete, and how to go about getting a life-changing scholarship!

Sports scholarships can open up a pathway to elite US universities, giving you the opportunity to pursue sports and academics at the highest levels.

At this event, Tessa Berger will be discussing:

+ An overview of US college athletics, and the NCAA

+ What a scholarship means, and what it covers for student-athletes

+ How athletics impacts the application process

+ What coaches and admissions officers are looking for

+ The student athlete lifestyle

+ The employment, career and internship opportunities available to US university students involved on athletic teams

6:00pm - 6:30pm: Welcome drinks

6:30pm - 7:30pm: Presentation

Further details: This event is tailored towards parents of students in grade 10-12, although interested parents of students from other grades are more than welcome to join.

Tessa Berger| Former World Cup Play | Director Crimson Athletics

Tessa is an Epsom Girls Grammar School graduate and attended Florida Gulf Coast University on a Division I full athletic scholarship, receiving over 30 full NCAA Division I athletic scholarship offers. Studying majors in business management and accounting with a concentration in entrepreneurship, she earned a perfect 4.0 grade point average, gaining prestigious Presidents List honours. Tessa, an Adidas sponsored athlete, has represented New Zealand on the international stage for the past decade in her chosen sport of football. Most notably, she competed in the FIFA Women's World Cup, was shortlisted for the 2012 London Olympic Games and received the honour of being named ASB Bank Young Sportsperson of the Year in 2011. An entrepreneur, Tessa established her latest business venture, The Merchandise Collective, a merchandising enterprise distributing New Zealand made clothing and apparel worldwide. She currently serves as President of Mahurangi Action Incorporated, a 40 year-old environmental organisation, and is the Chairperson and one of six trustees formally consented to serve on the Mahurangi Coastal Trail Trust. Most recently, at 21 years-old, Tessa stood as an independent candidate in the 2016 Local Body Elections. She was successfully elected to Auckland Council, serving the Rodney Ward.
