Event description

Description

March Forward Massachusetts is proud to present the inaugural "Every Woman Is An Activist" Award to Yvette Modestin. Yvette is a poet, writer, activist and proud Afro Panamanian. She is the founder of Encuentro Diaspora Afro. Yvette works to empower women and girls, and is a bridge builder between the Latin American and African American communities. She gives strength to the voice of the Afro Latinx community, and we feel she perfectly embodies the original spirit and intent of the Boston Women's March.

Please join us in congratulating Yvette for her crucial and impactful work, at a brunch event on Sunday, December 16, 2018. The proceeds from this event will go toward the production of the 2019 Boston Women's March.

The award will be presented by State Representative-Elect Tram Nguyen, who was inspired to run for office by the 2017 Boston Women's March, and who's amazing grassroots campaign unseated an entrenched conservative opponent of women's rights.

There are a limited number of tickets available for students and community activists who need them, please contact kcosmas@marchforwardmass.org to discuss your need. Sponsorships are also available by reaching out to kcosmas@marchforwardmass.org.

Special thanks to our Premier Sponsor, the Women's Power Gap initiative of the Eos Foundation.
