Every Survivor in The Center

Where is the center of the movement to end human trafficking? In an era of disinformation, listening to survivors means understanding that human trafficking happens in many forms and predominantly impacts Black, Indigenous People of Color.

Throughout May, we will be offering a webinar series focusing on the intersections of human trafficking, racial justice, and indigenous people’s rights. This free series will provide tools to community partners and service providers as we take a deep dive into human trafficking in all its forms.

Human Trafficking Happens Here: An Introduction to Human Trafficking in the Monterey Bay Area

  • Presented by: Deborah Pembrook and Ummra Hang
  • Thursday, May 6th, 1:30-4:30 pm
  • This webinar is an introduction to what human trafficking is in its many forms, what it looks like in our community, and how to understand and serve survivors of human trafficking.

The Intersection of Sex Trafficking and Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women

  • This webinar builds on Indigenous traditions of data gathering and knowledge transfer to create, disseminate, and put into action research on gender and sexual violence against Indigenous people.

The Impact of Culture & Race on Human Trafficking

  • This workshop will look at the impact of historical and current day injustices and it's impact on Human Trafficking as well as trauma, healing and resilience through a cultural lens.

Child Labor Trafficking in Our Community

  • Thursday, May 27th, 1:30-4:30 pm
  • Child labor trafficking is when youth are forced, tricked or coerced to work. This webinar talks about what child labor trafficking is, how it relates to other forms of abuse, and offers solution.
