11th Annual Every Girl Can Conference - Your Future is STEAMtastic!
Explorations in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics
Girls in 6th to 8th grade will discover and learn about opportunities and challenges in pursuing STEM/STEAM courses and careers in SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING, ARTS and MATHEMATICS as they participate in exciting hands-on workshops, discussions, and interactive exhibits. Women (dads welcome) will enjoy in-depth conversations with our outstanding STEAM panelists representing local education institutions and organizations. At the morning plenary, our keynote speaker is, Dr. Karen Marongelle, Director, Education and, Human Resources, National Science Foundation. Dr. Marongelle will also serve on the STEAM panel presenting to parents and educators attending the conference. This discussion is sure to provide knowledge, resources and, insights for parents, educators, and program leaders to help them support and nurture girls to build the curiosity, engagement, and self-confidence to pursue STEM/STEAM education and careers. Our presenters represent the University of Maryland, Computer Science Department, Johns Hopkins University/Applied Physics Lab, Department of Defense, National Institutes of Health, Montgomery College, National Cryptological School, Montgomery, and Prince George's County public schools and, DataScience Literary Initiative other organizations.
Girls and women who register for the conference receive a complimentary light breakfast. Girls will receive one Every Girl Can T-shirt which should be worn during the conference. Admission is FREE for girls and $20.00 for women. ATTENDEES SHOULD BRING A PRINTED COPY OF THE EVENTBRITE REGISTRATION AND THE CONFERENCE REGISTRATION FORM, SIGNED BY A PARENT OR GUARDIAN.
