Every Child Can Succeed: A West Philadelphia Story

February 21st
3:30-5:00 PM
Spady Room, Fox-Fels Hall

In their new book, Do It Better! : How the Kids of St. Francis de Sales Exceeded Everyone's Expectations, Sister Constance Touey and Sister Jeannette Lucey, IHM, offer hope and optimism amidst today's divisive conversations about immigrants and refugees. The co-authors are two tenacious nuns who wrapped their arms around children who suffered unspeakable losses and launched them on a path to success. And not just a few children, but countless students from around the world who arrived at their little Catholic school in West Philadelphia. Fiercely devoted to their students, they have written a moving and evocative book that chronicles the students' triumphs over adversity.

Please Join the Program for Research on Religion & Urban Civil Society (PRRUCS) on February 21st for an afternoon conversation with local authors, Sisters Constance Touey and Jeannette Lucey, IHM. This local authors forum will take place at 3:30 PM in the Spady Room of Fox-Fels Hall (3814 Walnut St.)

Afterward, the authors will participate in a 6pm book-signing at the Penn Book Store.

This event is cosponsored by the Collegium Institute.
