Description
UPDATE: We are very sorry to say that due to unforeseen circumstances, our "Good Afternoon" event at Good Life Farm, originally to be held this coming Saturday, August 15, has been POSTPONED. We hope to update you on details for a new event ASAP. Anyone who purchased a ticket will be receiving an email with information regarding options for what they can do with it in the next few days. Thank you for your support!
Enjoy fabulous food and family fun on the farm while benefiting Groundswell’s new farmer training programs!
Do something different! Treat yourself to a fun and delicious afternoon on one of the most fascinating and innovative farms in the Finger Lakes. Good Life Farm in Interlaken is one of Groundswell’s Partner Farms. Working with draft horses, Melissa Madden and Garrett Miller grow organic apples, peaches, asparagus, ginger, veggies, turkeys, and beef. Their latest project is the fabulous new Finger Lakes Cider House, a state of the art cider brewing facility shared with four other local cider makers.
Bring friends and family! Take a tour the organic orchards and greenhouses. Check out the grazing draft horses, turkeys and beef cattle. Tap your toes to some good old timey music from fabulous local musicians. Enjoy a flight of distinctive ciders crafted by local farm-based cider makers, and try pairing them with an array of local farmstead cheeses, hand-crafted charcuterie, artisanal breads and spreads. Then explore the actual workings of the cidery below, learn how fine ciders are made, and get the latest on the cider renaissance that's happening now in the Finger Lakes.
Enjoy extra bonuses from our business partners!
Farm-to-Table Raffle. Don’t miss the raffle! It's your chance to snag some great local farm products, garden gadgets, kitchen tools and lots of other goodies while benefiting the Groundswell Center’s new farmer training programs. Purchase your raffle tickets at the event itself.
Special Deals for Locavores. Your ticket includes sweet offers from three of our local business partners! After our event - or any time - head on down to Bandwagon Brewpub in Ithaca for a 10% discount on dinner and brews. Visit Cayuga Lake Creamery in Interlaken for a discount on their handcrafted gourmet ice creams. Take a tour of Lively Run Goat Dairy and get discounts on local artisanal cheeses. Pick up your coupons at our event, and use them any time.
FAQs
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
Yes please do. However if you've lost your ticket we will have a list of registrants at the door so you may still be admitted to the event itself. At the door you will also receive your tickets for Special Deals from Lively Run Goat Dairy, Cayuga Lake Creamery, and Bandwagon Brewpub.
Do I need ID to be served cider?
Yes - you must show ID and be at least 21 years old to be served your Local Cider Flight. Those without ID will be served Good Life Farm's fabulous "Ginger Bear" ginger soda.
What can/can't I bring to the event?
Bring your camera and sunscreen, wear sensible shoes, and be sure to dress for possibly changing weather. But please - absolutely no dogs or other animals.
What happens if it's rainy?
We'll have a large pavilion tent set up, and the Cidery building is always snug and dry, so we'll enjoy ourselves anyway! But bring your rain coat and umbrella so you can still explore the farm. It's not so bad getting wet - farmers do it all the time.
Is my registration/ticket transferrable?
No problem. Just call or email us with the information (your name, new person's name and contact info) and we will correct our records.
What is the refund policy?
We are unable to make refunds. However you may transfer your ticket to a friend. See above.
Where can I contact the organizer with any questions?
Call the Groundswell office at 607-319-5095, or send an email to info@groundswellcenter.org.
NOTICE: You will be on a REAL FARM. Be smart.
