Event description

Description

Join NPCA and the National Park Service on Saturday, September 30, at Greenbelt Park for volunteer projects in celebration of National Public Lands Day!

National Public Lands Day is the nation's largest hands-on volunteer effort to improve and enhance the public lands Americans enjoy.

Greenbelt Park’s 1,100 acres provides camping, picnicking, bicycling and hiking for thousands of visitors each year. This wooded park also provides important green space for red fox, deer, and other native wildlife. Celebrate our public lands by pitching in with trail restoration, painting, and repair and clean up of campfire circles.

Prepare to get dirty! Wear long pants and sturdy, closed-toe shoes. Bring plenty of water and work gloves if you wish. Feel free to pack a lunch for a picnic afterwards or return to the Sweetgum Picnic Area later in the evening for a free showing of the movie American Graffiti.

Details:
Greenbelt Park staff will brief you on basic safety measures to ensure that everyone has a safe and fun time. The equipment needed to complete the trail maintenance and other projects will be provided.

This event will take place rain or shine, so please dress appropriately for the weather. Bring a hat, water bottle, sunscreen, and bug spray for your time outdoors.

This is a family-friendly event and children are welcome. However, all participants under 18 must have a waiver signed by an adult. Waivers will be provided on-site.
