Join us at Weedon Island Preserve for Evening with the Author, a literary series that introduces readers to the masterminds and histories behind their favorite Florida stories.

This Evening's guest will be Jeff Klinkenberg, well-known, local author and former Tampa Bay Times journalist for nearly four decades, whose writing reveal the true nature of Florida's people, places, food and culture. Throughout his career, Klinkenberg has earned such accolades as the Florida Humanities Council’s “Lifetime Achievement for Writing Award”, a “Green Eyeshade Award” for work that was judged the best feature writing in any Southern newspaper and the Paul Hansell Distinguished Journalism Award, the highest honor in state journalism, given annually to the writer with the best body of work by the Florida Society of Newspaper Editors. Klinkenberg's books such as Alligators in B-Flat, Pilgrim in the Land of Alligators and Seasons of Real Florida, take readers close to the heart of Florida's true beauty in its hidden swamps and rivers, small towns, and deep history. In his most recent work published in 2018, Son of Real Florida, Klinkenberg shares stories from his own life growing up and living in the Sunshine State.

Enjoy hearing Klinkenberg discuss the inspirations behind his writings. Attendees are welcome to bring copies of his books to be signed. The talk will begin at 7:00pm with complimentary refreshments available starting at 6:30pm.
