Cristina Zenato, Professional Diver and member of the Women Divers Hall of Fame

Sharkcentric

A professional diver since 1994, Cristina has a combined passion for the ocean, sharks, and caves through her work in exploration, education and conservation. Sharks have been her primary passion since she was eight years old, so much so that they have become the center of her world and her choices. A shark ambassador, she works with sharks in the wild and is known for the special connection that she has with them. Her work has reached places as far away as China and Singapore, changing people’s perception of sharks.

Cristina is a PADI Course Director, NSS-CDS advanced cave diving instructor, and a TDI technical instructor. As an active cave explorer in the Bahamas, she surveys caves and promotes their conservation. She is also the first woman to have connected an inland fresh water cave to an ocean blue hole in The Bahamas. Cristina is a member of the Women Divers Hall of Fame, The Explorers Club, The Ocean Artists Society and a recipient of the Platinum pro 5000. A firm believer in the power of education Cristina spends her time training and teaching below and above the water. She is an active supporter of the Bahamas National Trust and the Our World Underwater Scholarship Society.

In her talk, Cristina will share with us how her passion and desire to protect sharks goes beyond the ocean and shorelines and how every action that, at times, might seem disconnected brings us back to one sole motive: the conservation of our One Ocean and its every life form through education for new generations.
