Description

Join Play On, Philly! for our most anticipated concert of the year: Evening of Harmony. This year's event features the energetic quartet Cuatrombon and our advanced POP Symphony Orchestra. They will perform in the beautiful College of Physicians, home of the Mutter Museum. We recommend getting your ticket early - last year they sold out!


Evening's events:
6:00 pm Cocktail reception with hors d'oeuvres, wine, beverages and live music
7:30 pm Cuatrombon performs
8:00 pm POP Symphony Orchestra performs

About Cuatrombon:

Trombonist of the legendary Canadian Brass and Latin Μusic enthusiast Achilles Liarmakopoulos grew up hearing the beauty of Venezuelan music from his parents' record collection, as they had met and lived in Venezuela for many years. In 2018 he formed “Cuatrombon”, consisting of a trombone, cuatro, maracas, and bass, in order to explore the music of Venezuela in a unique way.

Jorge Glem on cuatro, Latin Grammy winner, originally from Cumana, Venezuela, is considered one of the greatest cuatro players in the world and has performed with some of the finest Latin artists including Luis Enrique, Paquito D’Rivera and many others.

Bam Rodriguez, bassist from Caracas, Venezuela is a member of the Grammy award winning Arturo Farrill Orchestra and has performed in a variety of styles, all over the world.

Manuel Rangel, revolutionary maraca player has amazed audiences worldwide with his impeccable technique and showmanship.

Together they bring a fresh sound to the music of Venezuela meanwhile exploring other styles from many corners of the world.

What portion of the ticket is tax deductible?

For the $25 concert ticket purchases, none of the amount is tax deductible. For the $100 reception and concert ticket, $65 of the gift is tax deductible.

What are my transportion options for getting to the event?

SEPTA and Amtrak

SEPTA’s green trolley line stops at Market and 22nd Sts., just a half-block north of the Museum.

SEPTA’s Suburban Station is a short walk or cab ride from the Museum.

SEPTA’s Regional Rail and Market-Frankford Line and all Amtrak trains arrive at Philadelphia’s 30th St. Station, which is a 10-minute walk or short cab ride from the Museum.

To walk to the Museum from 30th St. Station, exit the station, and walk east on Market Street across the Schuylkill River bridge toward 22nd St. Turn right on 22nd St; the Museum is in the middle of the block.

PATCO

PATCO connects with SEPTA at the 8th and Market Street Station. Transfer to the westbound Market-Frankford Line. Travel four stops to 30th Street. Follow the directions above from 30th St. Station.

Driving Directions

From the South

Take I-95N to I-76W. Take exit 345 to 30th Street. Turn right onto Chestnut St. Turn left onto S. 22nd St. The Museum is on the right.

From the North

Take I-95S to I-676W. Take the Benjamin Franklin Parkway exit. Turn right on 22nd Street and right on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. Turn right on N. 21st St. Turn right on Sansom St. Turn right onto S. 22nd St. The Museum is 1.5 blocks ahead on the right.

From the West

Take I-76E to Philadelphia. Take exit 344 on to the left to I-676E. Take the 23rd St. exit and turn right onto N. 23rd St. Turn left on Chestnut St. Turn left on 22nd St. The Museum is on the right.

From New Jersey

Take the Benjamin Franklin Bridge to I-676W. Follow the From the Northdirections above.

What parking is available?

There is metered on-street parking on most of the streets surrounding the Museum. Several paid parking lots and garages are very close by, including one on S. 21st St., directly behind the Museum.
