“Transcriptome Sequencing Uncovers the Landscape of Functional Variation in the Human Genome
About the Speaker: In her work at Stanford University School of Medicine and University of Geneva as a postdoc, Dr. Lappalainen focused on functional genetic variation in human populations and its contribution to phenotypic variation at the cellular and higher levels, including disease. Her research is based on combining approaches from human genetics, functional genomics and population genetics. She recently led a transcriptome-sequencing project by the international Geuvadis consortium and works in many other genomics consortia, including the GTEx and 1000 Genomes consortia. She earned her PhD from the University of Helsinki in 2009.
About Evening Lectures in Genomics: Through a series of evening lectures, participants will gain a rare opportunity to learn and engage with top experts in genomics. Invited speakers will cover a broad variety of topics including; clinical genomics, functional genomics, epigenomics, population genomics, and bioethics. Technology and bioinformatics tools & applications will also be discussed. These lectures are most beneficial to scientists, researchers, clinicians, and/or healthcare professionals who wish to accelerate their research through the use of DNA sequencing technology and bioinformatics.
