“Restoring Civility in American Politics”

Join us for our fourth-annual Evening at the Square, featuring Andrew Gillum, recent Florida gubernatorial candidate and former mayor of Tallahassee. The night will include heavy hors d’oeuvres, drinks, and a conversation with Gillum about politics and the role of civility in governing during a divisive time.

Andrew Gillum served as Mayor of Tallahassee, Florida, from 2014 to 2018. He was the Democratic nominee for Governor of Florida in the 2018 election, running as the first black gubernatorial candidate in Florida's history. He was previously a Tallahassee City Commissioner from 2003 until his election as mayor; first elected at the age of 23, he was the city’s youngest commissioner.

In post-governor-race appearances, Gillum has been saying “There’s something in me that still says I have a role to play.” To many, that signals a possible intent to seek the highest office in this country. But for now he will teach a weekly class at the Institute of Politics at Harvard and continue his work on voter registration, civic engagement, and election reform.
