In this presentation, participants will become familiar with typical bilingual language development and learn how the grammatical and phoenitic structure of language may influence language. Participants will also understand how the stages of bilingual language acquisition can affect testing outcomes that may lead to over-identification. California Education Code will be discussed and therapists will learn when testing is needed in primary language. In addition, resources will be provided that will assist participants in determining language difference vs disorder when an interpreter or standardized test is not available.
**Registration and attendance at Part 1 on 4/25/17 is prerequisite for Part 2 on 4/27/17.**

Workshops may reach capacity early or be cancelled due to a lack of registration. Please register early to guarantee your spot.
If the workshop is cancelled by Contra Costa SELPA, enrollees will be notified in advance and will obtain a full refund. Seventy-two hour cancellation notice by the partcipant is required to receive a refund of event fees, unless otherwise noted (M-F); substitutions are welcome, please call in advance.
