About this Event

The Permanent Representation of Denmark to the EU invites you to a workshop on

EUROPEAN GREEN DEAL:

The role of agriculture in achieving climate neutrality by 2050

On 11th December 2019 von der Leyen’s Commission presented its European Green Deal that will deliver on the objective of a climate neutral EU by 2050 with a modern, resource-efficient and competitive economy. The agricultural sector will play a key role towards delivering on the ambitions of the European Green Deal. The sector has great potential for contributing to the EU’s reduction targets by reducing emissions as well as enhancing the storage of soil carbon, while at the same time holding a great potential for sustainable growth.

The workshop will bring together policy makers, industry actors, business representatives and scientists with the aim of exploring challenges and opportunities of achieving climate neutrality. In this respect, the workshop will highlight concrete initiatives launched by the sector itself as well as research and development within the sector. Further, the workshop will explore the possibilities within the EU framework, most notably the CAP, and how the future CAP can be designed so to best stimulate climate action on the ground, as well as the coming ‘Farm to Fork’ strategy.

Join us for a morning of knowledge-sharing, solution-finding and networking at the Danish PermRep!
