A Lay Eucharistic Visitor is a confirmed communicant in good standing who works under the direction of the priest in charge of the congregation and is authorized to take the Consecrated Elements in a timely manner following a Celebration of Holy Eucharist to members of the congregation who, by reasons of illness or infirmity, were unable to be present at the Celebration. The following steps are required for licensing:

1. Talk with your priest about this ministry to determine if it is a good fit for you.

2. Complete the Application for Licensing;Application

3. Complete Safe Church requirements as listed on the Diocesan Website: Safe Church Training

 Print a copy of your certificate of completion to attach to the Application for Licensing

4. Complete the in-person training program for Lay Eucharistic Visitors – next training will be held at St. Matthew’s Church in Jamestown on Sunday, May 7, 2-5pm. Please plan to bring the communion kit to the training.

5. Complete practical training in your church.

When the application is complete and all training has been taken, the application with Safe Church certificate attached should be sent to the Bishop’s Office. Licensing will not occur until all four steps have been completed.The Bishop will grant Eucharistic Visitor Licenses. This license is valid for a period of three (3) years, through Advent of the third year.

Together, our Bishop and churches work to do large-scale ministry no church could operate alone, such as the ECC Summer Camp, the Jonathan Daniels House, the CFR and more.
