Description

Come explore the captivating world of plants at Perkins Canyon! Learn about the historical and traditional uses of some of the most common plants in Contra Costa County. We’ll also have a crash course in plant identification and plant habitats, so bring plant guides if you have any! Be sure to bring plenty of water, a snack, and dress in layers. Sturdy shoes or hiking boots are recommended; hiking poles may be useful. Heavy rain cancels.

RVSP: To allow everyone equal access in signing up, registration for this hike will open two months prior to the hike.

Meet: State Park parking area off Morgan Territory Road, 0.10 mile from the intersection of Marsh Creek Road and Morgan Territory Road.

Directions: From I-680 North or downtown Walnut Creek, head east on Ygnacio Valley Road. Continue on Ygnacio Valley Road for about 7 miles. Make a right onto Clayton Road and continue on Clayton Road for 2.5 miles. Continue onto Marsh Creek Road for 3.4 miles and then make a slight right onto Morgan Territory Road. Parking will be on the right.
