Event Details

We'd like to invite leaders of ethnic media publications throughout New Jersey to learn more about how the NJ News Commons and the Center for Cooperative Media at Montclair State can help provide support for their publications. We offer a variety of trainings and services aimed at both improving and sustaining journalism as well as expanding core skills needed to engage digital audiences.

The event is hosted by Montclair State University's Center for Cooperative Media through its NJ News Commons initiative and the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism's Center for Community and Ethnic Media. Garry Pierre-Pierre, of the Center for Community and Ethnic Media, and Debbie Galant and Ju-Don Roberts, both of the Center for Cooperative Media, will lead the event.

We will serve lunch, explain our programs and services, and ask ethnic news organizations to tell us their needs.

The mission of the Center for Cooperative Media is to grow and strengthen local journalism, and in doing so serve New Jersey citizens.

We do that though the use of partnerships, collaborations, training, product development, research and communication. We work with more than 280 partners throughout the Garden State through our flagship project, the NJ News Commons, which includes hyperlocal digital publishers, public media, newspapers, television outlets, radio stations, multimedia news organizations and independent journalists. We are a grant-funded organization based at Montclair State University's School of Communication and Media. We are supported in our work by operational funding from The Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation, the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, Democracy Fund and Montclair State University.
