Ethics & Law: The Art of Disclosure
Fri, December 1, 2017, 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM MST
This training has been updated to reflect changes to regulations and new case studies!
The concept of confidentiality asserts that there is an important symbiotic relationship whereby society forgoes a ‘right to know’ in trade for a system of refuge for those who are troubled to seek help, thereby bettering society as a whole. This is the very foundation of our profession. More and more, however, our society has been wracked with increased violent crimes due to mental illness, increased health costs and emergency and incarceration rates that are unsustainable. In this new environment, behavioral health professionals are under greater amounts of pressure to disclose information. Deciding how and what to disclose can be a minefield of ethical and legal dilemmas that warrant consideration to navigate that minefield safely.
This training provides 3 continuing education hours for ethics.
