by

Terry Casey, PhD, Licensed Psychologist, HSP

Learn how to ethically navigate timely technology topics such as social media, distance therapy, practice management systems, websites, email and texting.

Ethics seminars in counseling and mental health don't have to be boring or tedious. Through an interactive and enjoyable small-group format this training equips participants with tools that will build competence and confidence.

This seminar:

  • Equips participants with a practical and effective model of ethical decision-making.

  • Explores key technology topics and identifies the ethical challenges of each along the way.

  • Through the use of clinical vignettes, applies the decision-making model to a cross-section of technology-related ethical issues.

Those who have participated in this seminar in the past have often remarked that they found it to be very useful and even fun. Come join us!

FAQs and recommendations

Room temperature

As many of us have experienced, meeting room temperatures can vary. It is recommended that you bring a sweater or light jacket with you you just in case.

Q: Where is the Ezell Center and where should I park?

As University classes will be in session you shold plan to arrive on campus before 7:20 a.m. A good landmark on campus is the bell tower (See campus map link below). The entrance to the Ezell center is within just a few yards of the bell tower. The recommended parking is in the Arena West Parking Garage (P2) on the campus map which is located about 100 yards southeast of the Ezell Center.

Campus map: https://www.lipscomb.edu/uploads/14890.pdf (the Ezell Center is #49 on the map). The recommended parking garage is P2 (Arena West).

Q: What are the lunch options?

There will be a one hour break for lunch beginning at approximately 11:45 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Staying on campus for lunch is recommended. The Bennett Student Center has several lunch options available (e.g., Chik-fil-a, Blue Coast Burrito, Starbucks & others) as well as the university dining hall on the 2nd floor. Au Bon Pain is located in the Student Activities Center ajacent to Ezell Center and should be open throughout the day. The Well and The Copper Kettle should also be open across Granny White Pike (east side of campus). Some past seminar participants have found it convenient to bring their own lunch and mingle with other seminar participants.

Q: Will refreshments be available?

We suggest that you consider bringing your own favorite snacks, coffee/tea, etc. In an effort to keep seminar fees very affordable, refreshments provided at the seminar may be limited to coffee and bottled water. However, there are several options for food and drink on campus. (See the note regarding lunch for other food and drink options.) Many past participants have brought their own snacks, coffee and/or lunch.
