Event description

Description

IADLEST Certified: This course has been certified by International Association of Directors of Law Enforcement Standards and Training (IADLEST) as part of the National Certification Program™.

Date and Time: May 11, 2018, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

Learning Goal: Describe the three levels of ethical focus and the ethical challenges in each. Understand how leadership behavior can either help or hinder the creation of an effective culture at each of these three levels.

Learning Objectives: After this seminar, the participant will be able to achieve the following objectives:

1. Define and identify the three levels of impact and the ethical, moral aspects and challenges of each.

2. Describe the different applications of power and how it applies to each aspect of ethics.

3. Analyze the cultures you work in and interpret the ethics of each.

4. Apply insight into your culture to identify opportunities for strategic change.

Description: This full-day workshop explores the levels of ethical leadership and the cultures that they form that impact police officer performance. Police action and behavior affects many areas from partner relationships to citywide dynamics. The moral integrity and courage required to act ethically and with effective impact are vastly improved when officers and leaders understand and are fluent in all aspects of ethical behavior.

Who Should Attend: This is an excellent class for leadership teams and any intact work team as well as supervisors and their reports. Each group will work together during the class to examine the issues and culture they are dealing with to develop insights into new opportunities.

There was lots of identification of various areas… – Ann Minzghor, Spokane County Sheriff’s Office

Good class participation, student-led discussion on topics relevant to the material presented. Good opportunities for self-reflection as well as evaluation of our own agencies and our attitudes toward our influence group and the community at large. – Dean Sprague, Spokane Police Department

I was impressed at your ability to engage with the class and get them talking. The insights were varied and provided great examples of the subject matter. Your focus on improving our own agencies through this class shows that you teach on the corrective level and are looking for the greatest long-lasting effects.
