As language interpreters, we work in a variety of settings and are often facing difficult situations. We have to make quick decisions and/or critical judgments on the spot and our dilemma often comes to: “Did I make the right decision?” This interactive workshop will bring some real life interpreting scenarios along with an analytical process of “deciphering” the medical interpreter Code of Ethics for a better understanding of our responsibilities and limitations as interpreters.
1. Define and understand ethical practice.
2. Understand roles/responsibilities and limitations of interpreters based on the Code of Ethics.
3. Develop analytical skills for use in difficult situations.
