CCAR Ethical Considerations for Recovery Coaches©

This training is for individuals who are involved in the recovery initiation of others and/or are in sustained recovery themselves and want to become a Recovery Coach or a Certified Recovery Support worker.

Description of Presentation: Recovery coaching as a peer-to-peer recovery support services has grown exponentially over the past four years. Over 2000 coaches have been trained using the CCAR Recovery Coach Academy alone. The issue of ethical consideration has been discussed in many circles yet formal training has been lacking. This two-day training addresses this critical need. Using presentations, small group work, role play and a decision making matrix many areas will be addressed including: defining the coaching service role and functions, coaching standards, issues of vulnerability, ethical decision making, performance enhancement and legal issues.

Goals & Objectives - participants will:


  • Recovery Coach Services
  • Apply the new learning to your everyday work as a Recovery Coach
  • Learn how to stay in your lane as a recovery coach
  • Understanding relationship boundary issues and role clarity
  • Understand the ethical decision making process
  • Develop guidelines for making ethical decisions, Assess, Plan, Implement, Evaluate
  • Confidentiality issues with respect to treatment providers, other healthcare providers, and non-treatment organizations

Time 8:30 – 4:00 BOTH DAYS. All manuals will be provided. Certificates will not be issued for partial completion.

12 CEUs will be awarded. Cost to attend is ($75). Seats are limited.

This course is pre-approved by Connecticut Certification Board for 12CEs. NH Board of Alcohol and other Drug Abuse Counselors Professional Performance Categories of Competence: 4, 5, 12, 13, 15 & 18 Performance Domains: IV & V. This workshop meets the CPS Educational Domains: 6
