Event description
Denmark and the Nordics aims to be front-runners in responsible development and use of artificial intelligence.

About this Event

Denmark and the Nordics aims to be front-runners in responsible development and use of artificial intelligence – benefitting individuals, businesses and society as a whole. Artificial intelligence offers great opportunities for creating growth, prosperity and world-class public service. Therefore, the Danish National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence seeks to create a framework for companies, researchers and public authorities that allow them to exploit the potential of artificial intelligence with a high level of responsibility. The EU High-Level Expert Group on AI presented Ethics Guidelines for Trustworthy Artificial Intelligence. The Guidelines put forward a set of 7 key requirements that AI systems should meet in order to be deemed trustworthy.:

  • Human agency and oversight: AI systems should empower human beings, allowing them to make informed decisions and fostering their fundamental rights.
  • Technical Robustness and safety: AI systems need to be resilient and secure.
  • Privacy and data governance: besides ensuring full respect for privacy and data protection, adequate data governance mechanisms must also be ensured, taking into account the quality and integrity of the data, and ensuring legitimised access to data.
  • Transparency: the data, system and AI business models should be transparent. Traceability mechanisms can help achieving this.
  • Diversity, non-discrimination and fairness: Unfair bias must be avoided, as it could have multiple negative implications, from the marginalization of vulnerable groups, to the exacerbation of prejudice and discrimination.
  • Societal and environmental well-being: AI systems should benefit all human beings, including future generations.
  • Accountability: Mechanisms should be put in place to ensure responsibility and accountability for AI systems and their outcomes.

In this roundtable on ethical AI, we will discuss where machines should be making decisions and where humans should be making decisions. Leading experts in the field will share their knowledge and insights and explore how Denmark and Singapore can be global leaders in ethical and trustworthy application of artificial intelligence.
