About this Event
COVID19 Safety Protocols
Perform a Self-Health Check at home prior to participating in an event with the Bronx River Alliance. If you exhibit any of the following symptoms, please do NOT leave home:
- Cough
- Shortness of Breath or difficulty breathing
- Fever (especially above 100.4 ℉)
- Chills
- Muscle Pain
- Sore Throat
- New loss of taste or smell
Wear a Face Covering
Masks/face coverings are required to participate in any on-water event with the Bronx River Alliance and must remain on for the duration of the event. A face mask must cover your nose and mouth.
Practice COVID-safe hygiene
- Wear a mask/face covering whenever you leave home and cannot maintain at least 6 feet of distance from others.
- Wash your hands often, using soap and water and scrub for at least 20 seconds. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available and rub into hands for 30 seconds.
- Do not touch your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands.
- If you have touched or repositioned your mask, it is recommended that you wash/use hand sanitizer before touching anything else.
- Monitor your health more closely than usual for cold or flu symptoms.
Upon arrival at the event
- Please maintain at least six feet of distance between you and others at all times, and do not touch others.
- Participants will have their temperature checked upon arrival. If anyone is measured to be above the CDC-recommended threshold (currently 100.4 ℉), the temperature will be read again in 5 minutes. If the second temperature scan also is above the threshold, the person will be asked to leave immediately.
- ACA waivers, Covid19 waivers, and Photo waivers must be filled out and signed before participants get out on water.
Equipment pickup
Following registration and collection of signed waivers, participants will be allowed to pick up equipment.
- All canoes will only be reserved for participants who live in the same household only, and kayaks will be reserved for single participants.
- All Canoes, kayaks and safety equipment must be disinfected before and after the paddle
- Participants gather around in a circle 6ft apart after obtaining a Disinfected PFD from the Cart (one of the guides should help the paddlers get the correct size PFD one by one).
- Kayaks will go out on the water first, then canoes will launch
- After arriving back to shore the participants will remove their PFDs and put them into a pile one at a time
- BXRA staff will use a combination of Lysol and Alcohol to disinfect safety equipment, canoes and paddle; they will be allowed to dry 24hrs before using again
This paddle starts and ends at the Concrete Plant Park boat launch. Journey through the lower segments of the Bronx via canoe or kayak traveling south and back passing along Concrete Plant Park, Hunts Point Riverside Park and Soundview Park on this urban adventure. Travel to the connecting East River and learn about all this beautiful natural resource has to offer!
This area of the river is quite a challenge as we will face tides and wind, therefore we will be restricting these trips to adults only. Please allow for approximately 4 hours total, which includes time for registration, put in and take out, etc.
We also ask that all participants arrive as promptly as possible for a speedy launch, there will be a 15 minute grace period after starting time for any delayed participants. If you are running tardy, please do email paddle@bronxriver.org to let us know such that we might wait for yourself and/or party.

Please be mindful, we ask that all refund requests be made 48 hours prior to trip date and time.
All participants are to abide by the Bronx River rules of safety and wear appropriate close toed attached shoes throughout the entire paddle. The Bronx River Alliance reserves the right to deny any person participation if they are not fully abiding by our safety measures.
The Bronx River Alliance reserves the right to turn away, deny or refuse service to any person(s) who it suspects may pose a health risk to its staff, paddlers, community or themselves.
