2021 ESTES PARK ROTARY DUCK RACE FESTIVAL

With a mixture of regret and excitement, the Estes Park Duck Race Festival Committee has decided to host a virtual experience on Saturday, May 1st instead of an in-person event. Details are being developed that will ensure the race is accessible online, entertaining for those who tune into the livestream, and rewarding for the 65 Participating Organizations that are busy selling Duck Adoptions.

Estes Park Duck Race Festival charities receive $19 of every adoption sold. The Estes Park Duck Race is held annually on the first Saturday in May. The 33rd Duck Race is scheduled to be held on May 1, 2021. The event to be held at the Lazy River is closed to the pubic continue because of Covid-19 concerns but the race will be a streamed live on the Internet to continue the tradition started in 1989 to support the local charities of the Estes Valley.

Each year, there are 60-70 non-profit groups that are selected to become the official Participating Organizations and Charities in the Duck Race Festival. The Rotary Club of Estes Park organizes the Duck Race Festival and handles all the administrative, operational, and financial aspects of the event. During the Duck Race "season," people may "adopt" little yellow ducks for the Duck Race and designate the charity of their choice to receive the proceeds of their adoptions. Prizes are awarded to the adopters of the ducks that win the Duck Race. After the race, the collected funds are distributed to the Participating Organizations and Charities on the basis of the number of duck adoptions credited to each benefitting group.
