ESIMBI (meaning “it works” in Lingala, one of the languages spoken in the Democratic Republic of Congo) is a non-profit social initiative to promote the Arts, Fashion and Culture of Congolese origin through educational events, apprenticeships and workshops for underprivileged children and adolescents in Congo.

Our brand ambassadors include Hollywood actress Thandie Newton, Chloe-Jasmine and tv show EMPIRE’s singer V Bozeman.

Our long term goal is to provide a sustainable way of life for the youth in DRC. ESIMBI does this by affiliating with existing Congolese charities, schools and orphanages.

Our current partners include the youth organisation Pades, ThandieKay founded by Thandie Newton and Kay Montano, Revive Congo, Fondation Briser le Silence, Antic Communication,  VOX Africa, Congo Fashion Institute and Malaika school for girls.

Our mission is led by the idea that everyone has the potential and the ability to succeed if given the right education, training and motivation hence why our motto is to inspire, empower and achieve.

Our goal is to grow and expand this social enterprise by doing up to 4 cultural events per year that covers the street of Kinshasa in order to create stronger communities and give back hope to these children leaving in a constant political uncertainty.

From the events:

  • The children will receive a certificate of participation after completion of the task on the day,
  • A School kit which is composed of a bag, notebook, water, pen etc,
  • Lunch on the day,
  • 10 kids will be selected based on their family situation and school results to receive a year paid for their school fees.,
  • The schools will receive support with their programs from our team and selected specialist mentors.
  • School buses will be arranged.

We also provide vocational training with secured employment (via an Apprenticeship Project and an Apprenticeship Resource Hub) to young adults in the Democratic Republic of Congo and the UK with a Congolese background, in collaboration with our alliance charities.

ESIMBI creates employment by connecting talented young adults to successful businesses in APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMMES. We approach the businesses first to easily secure and source potential employment, thus eliminating the task of recruitment for the company. All interested businesses are established and reputable.

ESIMBI acts as a resource for young people by providing advice and assistance via INTERACTIVE WORKSHOPS. We do this by bringing in expert mentors to help determine the needs of each individual; assessing their skills, and how they can be developed; advancing education; and relieving unemployment caused by the lack of skills. Individuals will be awarded with an internship, a job, or grants tenable for higher or further education.

We support organisations in the EDUCATION sector in order to create a successful path for young children.
