Thursday, June 6, 2019 - Trauma and Critical Care Conference Day
Featured Keynote Speaker: Bryan A. Cotton, MD, MPH, FACS will discuss transfusion medicine with case scenarios. Dr. Cotton is currently the John B. Holmes Professor in Clinical Sciences and Professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. In addition, he is the Director of the Surgical Critical Care, Trauma Surgery, and Acute Care Surgery Fellowships at UT-Houston. Dr. Cotton's research focuses on identifying best resuscitation strategies for hemorrhagic shock, the early prediction of patients who will receive massive transfusion of blood and blood products and use of thrombelastography (TEG) to guide resuscitation and correct coagulopathy following injury. He holds funding from the National Institutes of Health, the State of Texas Emerging Technologies Fund and the Department of Defense.

Confirmed speakers include orthopaedic surgeon Bryce Cunningham MD, neurosurgeon Jody Miller MD, plastic surgeon Todd Thurston MD, obstetrics/maternal fetal medicine specialist Tripp Nelson MD, ophthalmologist Paula Nicola MD, trauma resus nurse Luis DeRosa, BSN, of Ryder Trauma Center in Miami, FL, flight paramedic and instructor Dana McDonald, NRP, trauma/critical care surgeon Robert Maxwell MD, as well as UT College of Medicine residents and Erlanger trauma resus nurses.

Friday, June 7, 2019 – Cadaver and Skills Lab Day
An opportunity to immerse yourself in 18,000 square feet of hands-on training! Practice interventions for trauma and critically ill patients across the spectrum of care. Expand your skills with simulation experiences, skill procedures on human tissue, and a variety of educational stations including anatomy of an airway, spine, facial muscles, tendons, nerves and bones, obstetrical trauma, immobilization and extrication, and swift water rescue.

FAQs

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

There are multiple transportation options to/from the Convention Center. Various hotels offer shuttle service. The Chattanooga Area Regional Transportation Authority (CARTA) operates a free electric shuttle with stops throughout downtown. CARTA's Public Library stop is close to the Convention Center. Shuttle map can be found at http://www.carta-bus.org/maps/shuttlemap.pdf. Options such as local taxi service and Uber are also available. Limited parking is available at the Chattanooga Convention Center. Registered attendees who park in the Convention Center lot will receive one free parking pass for each day of attendance. Other paid parking options are available throughout downtown.

What can I bring into the event?

We highly suggest you bring a jacket or dress in layers for comfort each day. It is usually cold in the Convention Center. NO photos by camera or cell phone are permitted in the Cadaver & Skills Lab. This policy is STRICTLY enforced and violators will be asked to leave.

Is CME/CEU available?

The University of Tennessee Health Science Center has approved the CME/CEU application, as has the Office of EMS, Georgia Department of Public Health. 6.25 hours have been awarded for June 6 and 6.0 hours for June 7 for a total of 12.25 hours if attending both days. Certificates will NOT be available the day of the event; they will be mailed or emailed within 30 days.
